About
OUR STORY
Located in the historic Fulton Market district of Chicago’s West Loop neighborhood, il Carciofo is a premier Roman Italian restaurant drawing inspiration from the open-air markets and rustic trattorias of Rome. Led by Top Chef winner and James Beard-nominated Chef Joe Flamm, we serve a seasonal menu of elevated yet familiar Italian fare, including traditional antipasti, Roman-style pizzas, handmade pasta crafted daily in our dedicated pasta lab and market-driven mains that highlight the season's bounty.
Our space
With rich layers of dark woods, plush fabrics, handmade tiles, and warm natural stones, our interior brings the rich history of a Roman trattoria to the heart of Chicago’s Fulton Market district. An open kitchen featuring intimate chef’s counter dining provides an inviting, authentic Italian restaurant feel. Our dedicated Pasta Lab—where our team crafts fresh, handmade pasta daily—doubles as a cozy private event space perfect for unique group gatherings. The dining room's expansive retractable windows open completely, spilling out onto a massive oasis built for premier outdoor patio dining. Surrounded by lush perennials, romantic string lighting, and large overhead canopies, the space beautifully mirrors the vibrant, bustling piazzas found within Rome’s storied walls.
